Capicua was born in Porto in the 1980s, discovered Hip Hop culture in the 1990s, and became a rapper in the 2000s. Trained as a sociologist, she ended up making music her main profession and is known for her emotional, feminist, and politically engaged writing. Her discography includes two mixtapes and four albums under her own name, a remix album, two children’s book albums with the Mão Verde project, a collaborative Portuguese-Brazilian album, and a live EP, in addition to the artistic direction of the tribute album to Sérgio Godinho, “SG Gigante” (2022).
Capicua is also the author of two books, one of chronicles and poems – Aquário (Companhia das Letras, 2022) and Cor-de-Margarida (Nuvem de Letras in 2023) for children. The year 2024 begins with a new song, “Que força é essa amiga” (which is a revamped, female version of Sérgio Godinho’s classic) and ends with a finished album. 2025 will be the year of release and tour with “Um gelado antes do fim do mundo.”
