Afonso Cabral has played a steady — and often discreet (just how he likes it) — role in Lisbon’s music scene over the past 15 years. He’s a founding member of You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown, and has also performed with Bruno Pernadas, Minta & The Brook Trout, and Mais Alto!, as well as writing songs for other artists. He has collaborated with artists as varied as Moullinex and Monday, and seen his songs performed by the likes of Cristina Branco, Salvador Sobral, and Tim Bernardes. As a solo artist, Cabral released Morada in 2019 — an intimate debut album driven by rich string and horn arrangements. His second album, Demorar (2024), was named one of Portugal’s best albums of the year by multiple publications. It marks a further expansion of his indie pop range and includes a duet with Portuguese icon Manuela Azevedo (Clã), as well as the unexpected intercontinental collaboration with Shugo Tokumaru on the song Confusão / ざわめき.
