Casa Capitão reopens its doors on September 19th with a free entry weekend marking the beginning of a new phase: a cultural space with continuous programming in the heart of Beato. With a renewed identity and a focus on different age groups, the new Casa Capitão offers a diverse and multidisciplinary program that combines music, words, thought, visual and performing arts, gastronomy, design, and fashion.
The children’s and youth program for Casa Capitão’s Opening Party spans two days, with different activities for Saturday and Sunday.
SATURDAY, September 20
On Saturday, September 20, the morning starts with “Stories with Cláudia Fonseca” (10:30 AM), a session that combines traditional tales, poetry, and songs from various parts of the world. Right after, the Casa Voadora collective presents the workshop-game “Shuffled Stories” (11:00 AM), inviting imagination and story creation. At the same time, Luca Argel blends samba, rock, and poetry in a concert for all. At 11:30 AM, Capitão opens windows to different cultures with a showcase of short films organized by Levante Cineclube.
In the afternoon, the proposal is an interactive visual and sensory game provoked by the puzzle installation “Build Me” (1:30 PM) by Carlos Roxo.
To close the day, the ‘Pokémon Laboratory’ (3:00 PM) invites the little ones to create fantastic creatures in a playful workshop that combines drawing and imagination. At 4:00 PM, there are two proposals: a dance with the cumbia circle Hijos de Luzia and the poetry slam “Ciranda: Spoken Word Game”.
SUNDAY, September 21
On Sunday, September 21, Colombian DJ Rosario Wurlitzer brings “Salsita”, a fun workshop to dance to salsa, and a little later (11:00 AM), Afonso Cabral takes the stage with songs for kids and adults. To close the morning, the “Shadow Drawing” workshop (12:00 PM) with Cristiana Freitas explores the world around us to draw the shadows that surround us.
The afternoon begins with “The Ink that Comes from the Peel” (2:00 PM), a proposal by Tinctória Natural to learn how to create inks from vegetables and fruits we have at home. Closing the children’s and youth program of the Opening Party, Gil Dionísio presents “Tales and Tall Tales” (4:00 PM), a show that combines stories, songs, movement, and poetry, inspired by the animal world.
Access to all activities is free, subject to space capacity.
